Our Parenting Programs provide a supportive, welcoming environment where parents and carers can build confidence, connect with others and access practical information to help them navigate each stage of their parenting journey.

At Monaro Family Support Service, we offer opportunities for parents to learn new skills, share experiences and strengthen family relationships in a safe and encouraging space.

1-2-3 Magic & Emotion Coaching

1-2-3 Magic and Emotion Coaching is an evidence-based parenting program which we offer as required throughout our region. The program has been widely implemented and evaluated internationally, with evidence indicating improvements in child behaviour, parent confidence, and family functioning.

The 1-2-3 Magic method encourages the use of a counting technique to manage difficult behaviours in children, in combination with a range of other emotion coaching strategies.

Bringing Up Great Kids

Bringing Up Great Kids (BUGK) focuses on the experience of reflective and mindful parenting, grounded in the relationships parents build and share with their children. Although raising children can be challenging and at times
difficult, a loving, nurturing and safe parenting experience can provide the relationship where parent and
child can both flourish and grow.

BUGK presents parents with access to knowledge about development, connection with others and an opportunity to reflect on their communication with children. We've consistently found that when opportunities for mindful reflection are created these can lead to positive change; including more respectful interactions and increased positive self-identity in children, increased confidence in parenting and better relationships.

We are currently calling for expressions of interest for a 5 session BUGK program that will be delivered in Bombala.
Child minding will be available during the program.
